Women's Professional Soccer kicks off in the USA in 2009, with seven clubs in its initial season, and a further three clubs - Atlanta, Dallas and Philadelphia - earmarked for 2010.
The initial international draft of players was announced on 24 September, providing teams to begin a formal negotiation process with each selected player upon receiving permission from that player's current club.
Pictured below are the 28 players chosen in this draft. Most should be starters in the new league, with each team able to sign up to five international players on their roster (ideally a few of them being Football Ferns!)
The USA squad members have been liberally sprinkled among the seven teams, specifically:

Allied to the players below, there should be some enthralling action on the park.
Take the potential LA line-up - Marta and Han Duan up front, Aya Miyama down the left, the Icelandic flier down the right, Shannon Boxx and French star Camille Abily as midfield anchors, Aly Wagner supplying the bullets ... all this and Brazilian legend Sissi as assistant coach! The attacking potential of that team alone is frightening!
As well as the three new teams in 2010, there's also an English professional women's league planned - exciting times!
