I must admit I'm not a big fan of the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, even though they are both fine athletes, and exceptional tennis players.
Make no mistake, it's got absolutely nothing to do with the colour of their skin - a person's pigment shouldn't even come into the equation, be it in sport, employment ... whatever.
I just don't like the biff-bang-wallop style of tennis which they use to great effect in overwhelming their opponents - with their "power game" tactics, the women's game is becoming more and more like a shortened version of men's tennis, which I tend not to watch because of its lack of variety.
Their father's outspokenness doesn't aid their cause, or that of women's tennis, either. While he is rightly proud of his daughters' achievements, he should follow the example set by one of the true greats of the game, "Pistol" Pete Sampras, and allow the on-court actions of both Venus and Serena to do his talking for him.
I'm certain his daughters' efforts would earn far greater appreciation from all quarters than is presently the case.
