Wellington Phoenix
Wellington Phoenix is the third New Zealand club to contest Australia's foremost football league competition, currently the Hyundai A-League, following in the footsteps of Auckland-based clubs Football Kingz (National Soccer League, 1999-2004) and NZ Knights (Hyundai A-League, 2005-07).

Given I'm in the unique position of being the only football writer in NZ to have compiled a report on almost every A-League game the club has played from day one, I've set up this section on Ultimate so folk can take a trip back in time and read every single one of those detailed reports at their leisure, as my way of recognising the club's tenth season in the competition.

You'll also find bonus reports on the four pre-season matches which took place in 2014, when Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC played Newcastle United and West Ham United at various venues in New Zealand for the Football United pre-season tour - I was the only football writer to attend all four matches.

Enjoy ... oh, and if you ever hear mention of Wellington being "NZ's home of football", take pity on those making the claim, for 'tis deluded they are.

There's only one city in NZ to which that title belongs, the same city which, as well has having hosted the final match of all three FIFA age-grade World Cup Finals to take place in this country (NZ 99, NZ 08 and NZ 2015), and is the nerve centre of NZ women's football, was the only city in the country to attract five-figure crowds every time they've played host to a Wellington Phoenix fixture until a pre-Christmas fixture in December 2016.

Auckland, the true home of NZ football. Those "metrics" don't lie! :-)
