From Duncan Montgomery
One of the greatest maritime photos you'll ever see, for mine.
Duncan took this from the bridge of "Spirit of Resolution" when she took on the Manukau Bar on a certain Saturday in September 2010 when the ship came off second-best, and luckily got away with it!
A lovely shot from on the water of "Spirit Of Resolution" alongside, with "Tika" and "Westport" berthed abaft
Inbound on the "SOR", with the Manukau Heads not far distant, and the Manukau Bar bearing its teeth
Another view of "SOR" and 'La Grande Dame' alongside
"Spirit Of Resolution" alongside and bereft of all cargo, taken from the public walkway beneath Mangere Bridge
"Spirit Of Enterprise" and the wounded "Westport" - this was after the latter had her infamous battle with the old Mangere Bridge
Going nowhere fast! "Spirit Of Resolution" has broken down in the Wairopa Channel on 5 February 2011, with French Bay and Shag Point dead ahead
"Tika" on duty, towing "Spirit Of Resolution" to Waikowhai Bay on  February 2011 so repairs can be effected without the threat of running aground

Opposite:
Too close for comfort!
"Spirit Of Enterprise" stuck hard and fast in the Wairopa Channel, with "Tasman Bay" hove to on her port side, and to starboard, the vast expanse of Motukaraka Bank, onto which "SOE" has run aground.

This was on 28 July 2001, when "SOE" was late in sailing from Onehunga, eventually departing after high tide at 4.30am.
Go to the Harbour Incidents section for more details.
