After a first third of the season dominated by futsal activities, the goalscoring machine known simply as "Queen B" relished the chance to return to the green, green grass of home in the Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup on the weekend, and stole all the headlines with a stunning seven-goal salvo.
Britney-Lee Nicholson was at her potent best as Coastal Spirit tore Selwyn United apart at Tane Norton Park, with their captain responsible for the lion's share of the goals in their 11-0 romp, including four in a ten-minute burst during the second half. Frankie Morrow, Margi Dias, Sam Whyte and Holly Lyon added the extras.
In piling on the agony for the vanquished side, "Queen B" stormed past the 200 mark for goals scored in her career, a tally which doesn't include her prolific efforts on futsal courts hither and yon - eight goals for the Futsal Ferns, and plenty more in the Futsal SuperLeague. Is a Football Ferns call-up on the horizon, given scoring form of this magnitude?
The formbook largely called the tune in the other South Island ties, with Raegan Potter's four-goal haul inspiring Dunedin City Royals' 8-0 win at Green Island, with Kylie Jones, Hannah Mackay-Wright, Abby Nicholson and Florence MacIntyre also on target at Sunnyvale Park.
Cashmere Technical and Nelson Suburbs both scored 4-0 wins on the road at Canterbury Universities and Richmond Athletic respectively. Katie Harris led the way with two goals for the victors at English Park, while Giselle Rynvos was among the goal celebrants at Jubilee Park.
In a game transferred to the United Sports Centre, early goals from Emma Batey and Lucy Kavanagh paved the way for Halswell United's 2-1 win over Ferrymead Bays, while Northern prevailed 3-2 on penalties over Queens Park at the Caledonian Ground after the sides had battled their way to a 1-1 draw. The six winners are joined in the next round by Roslyn Wakari and Otago University.
It's back to South Island Women's League action this weekend, and the attention is on the Christchurch derby between Cashmere and Spirit at Garrick Memorial Park, a clash neither side can afford to lose, particularly with the home team having lost the points for their win over Roslyn Wakari on Anzac weekend, that 5-1 victory having been turned into a 3-0 defeat due to the fielding of an ineligible player.
"The Royals" welcome Nelson to Logan Park on a day Nomads-Waimakariri United and "The Ponies" square off at Kendall Park. The students lock horns on Sunday, with Logan Park hosting the university challenge between Otago and Canterbury.
There's also a Morrison Mitsubishi Reta Fitzpatrick Cup quarter-final on Wednesday at English Park, with Cashmere and Ferrymead bidding to be the first team through to the semis this season.

The two all-Central Region Premier Women's League ties in the Kate Sheppard Cup were the close-fought affairs both were expected to be, with Marist Palmerston North requiring extra time before overcoming Taradale 3-0 at Arena Manawatu, where a brace of Isabella Yarwood goals sandwiched a Melissa McKenna effort in the additional thirty minutes.
Meanwhile, first half goals paved the way for Wellington United to overcome Petone 3-1 at Newtown Park, Taylor Watson's double-strike in the first seventeen minutes supplemented by Natalie Brook's goal before the interval.
Phoebe Gray pulled one back for the visitors ten minutes after half-time, but they had left themselves with too much to do, meaning "The Diamonds" join fellow Premier Leaguers Marist, Miramar Rangers, Victoria University, Waterside Karori and Wellington Phoenix in the next round.
The two Capital Premier Women's League teams joining them are Te Kotahitanga and Upper Hutt City, for whom Emma Lavery scored thrice and Bex Stewart and Asha Dyson twice apiece as they put North Wellington to the sword 9-0 at Alex Moore Park.
"TK", meanwhile, put a dampener on Seatoun's celebration of fifty years of women's football at the club by prevailing 2-1 at Mazengarb Park, Maddison Beetham's goal on the hour dashing the six-time semi-finalists' hopes of marking this milestone with another lengthy cup run.
As well as the cup activity, there was a rescheduled Central Region Premier Women's League match on Saturday, in which Katie Pugh stole the limelight with a five-goal haul as she inspired Wellington Phoenix to an 11-0 win over Victoria University at Boyd Wilson Park.
Ruby Hale also chimed in with a couple of goals for the victors, while captain Mackenzie Bryant was on the scoresheet, so, too, Freya Des Fountain and second half substitutes Kya Solomon and Anahera Easton.
League action this weekend sees "The Diamonds" and Marist duelling at Newtown Park on Saturday, with the other fixtures being Sunday affairs. Miramar and "The Magpies" meet at Dave Farrington Park, while Petone and Victoria University are on the road, with Palmerston North United's Memorial Park home and Taradale Park their respective destinations.
The clash between Wellington Phoenix and Moturoa has been rescheduled to the end of the month.
