Built in Greenock, she is powered by one 1120hp British Polar diesel, producing a service speed of 11 knots.

She loaded a cargo of sodium carbonate in Liverpool on her delivery voyage, which saw her call at Cristobal en route to Auckland, where she arrived 47 days after setting off on her voyage south.

Richardson & Co of Napier were her initial operators until they were taken over by Holm Shipping in 1969. Their management was taken over by Union Shipping in 1972, and she was sold to Panamanian interests in 1975.

Wrecked at Tankan Shah, twelve miles south of Hong Kong, on 19 April 1985, a week after running aground.
