Reigning South Island Women's League title-holders Cashmere Technical and their likely successors as champions, Dunedin City Royals, both went on scoring sprees in their latest matches on July 12, each amassing ten-goal victories on the road.
"The Royals" routed Roslyn Wakari 10-1 at Logan Park, led by Amy Hislop's five-goal salvo. Toni Power bagged a brace for the victors, while Hannah Mackay-Wright, substitute Nieve Collin and even goalkeeper Lauren Paterson - from the penalty spot - got in on the act.
Paterson was still celebrating her goal when Morgan MacCormick brought her down to earth with a bump as she stashed "The Ponies" lone response in this one-sided Dunedin derby, on a weekend which saw the weather curtail Coastal Spirit's hopes of travelling to Saxton Fields to take on Nelson Suburbs.
Cashmere went one better than "The Royals" - they didn't concede! Their five-goal heroine was Katie Harris on a day Katie Brugh bagged a hat-trick and Kate Loye also chimed in, all this after Halswell United's Danielle You had put through her own net to trigger an avalanche of goals in this 10-0 rout at Halswell Domain.
Otago University eased to a 3-0 win at Nomads-Waimakariri United to maintain their second placing, with Georgia Nixon and first half substitute Kate Johnstone scoring in each half before NWU skipper Rebecca Gillett put through her own net at Tulett Park to wrap up the scoring.
Thirteenth round action this weekend sees Cashmere hosting NWU at Garrick Memorial Park, while Otago and "The Ponies" get it on at Logan Park. Spirit head to English Park to take on Canterbury Universities, while the lone Sunday fixture sees "The Hawks" hosting Nelson at Halswell Domain.

Wellington United's procession towards the Central Region Premier Women's League title continued unabated at Newtown Park on the second weekend in July, a hat-trick from the "Ace of Diamonds", Hannah Pilley, inspiring their 4-0 win over Taradale.
New signing Summer Laskey set up two of those goals and hit the post before finally getting her name on the scoresheet in stoppage time in a round which saw Pepi Olliver-Bell's goal just before half-time earn Petone a 1-0 win at Miramar Rangers' Dave Farrington Park home.
Wellington Phoenix recorded the biggest win of the round, Amelie McClintock and second half substitute Bridie Christie both scoring twice in their 6-0 defeat of Victoria University at Fraser Park, where Eliza Vincent and Leonora Webb scored early in each half.
It was another good weekend for the Manawatu contenders. Palmerston North United held Waterside Karori to a 1-1 draw at Memorial Park, where Kya Stewart's late equaliser for "The Magpies" denied Georgina Irwin the match-winning goal for the home team.
Meanwhile, in a game transferred to New Plymouth Boys High School, Marist Palmerston North condemned Moturoa to a 3-0 defeat thanks to goals from Marina Ishimoto, Renee Maddigan and the delightfully named Chardonnay Ross-Elvin.
There's a full round of action on Saturday this week, with all the action set to conclude by 3pm. The clash of Petone and Wellington Phoenix sees third playing second at Petone Memorial Park on a day "The Diamonds" take on the students at Boyd Wilson Park.
Marist and Miramar meet at Arena Manawatu, while "The Magpies" entertain Moturoa at Karori Park, and Taradale and PNU square off at Taradale Park. There's quite the battle to avoid relegation shaping up at the bottom of the table, where three points covers PNU, Moturoa, Miramar and Victoria - there are some big games on the horizon for those teams.
