Wharf Wildlife
As well as the numerous ships, trawlers, tugs and workboats which have tied up alongside over the years,
the Port of Onehunga is also a haven for plenty of bird and marine life.
I'm still trying to get a photo or two of a fish leaping out of the Manukau, as they do ...

Waiting for the "Westport" ...
a flock of seagulls, 41 all told, relaxing on the wharf

Below: Sentries on watch, perched on the dolphin's arms
A black-capped gull in full cry
Amid the muck in the fishing basin!
The divebombing seagull!
We have splashdown!
Fish caught and consumed, it's take-off time!
This entire sequence takes about four seconds,
and usually occurs around high tide at Onehunga
A wader inspecting the base of a wharf piling for food at low tide
