Built in Hamburg by Ottensener Eisenwerk for the United Baltic Corporation Ltd., she had a service speed of 13 knots.

After fifteen years operating in England, she was acquired by Reef Shipping for the Pacific Islands trade in October 1973, and after three years doing so as "Fijian Swift", she changed name and flag in 1976, continuing the service for a further three years as "Ha'amotaha", providing shipping services to Tonga and Samoa on a bare boat charter to the Tongan Pacific Navigation Company.

Her final departure from Onehunga saw her set off for Port Moresby, but she broke down early on in the voyage, limping round to Auckland for the latest of numerous engine repairs. She eventually reached her destination, returning via Lae to Auckland, where she was laid up before being sold to Pacific Scrap Ltd for demolition in April 1979. Refer also to "Fijian Swift".
