Built in Martenshoek for Holm Shipping, she entered service on the coastal and Chatham Islands trades in 1953, servicing Dunedin, Oamaru, Lyttelton, New Plymouth and Onehunga, with Raglan as required.

When she departed Onehunga for Lyttelton in July 1964, her cargo included 161 cargons, the first use of 'cargons' - effectively containers on wheels - in coastal shipping.

Union Company took over her management in 1972, and she was sold to Panamanian interests before her final years saw her owned by a Maldives operation.

She was broken up at Gadani Beach in July 1985.
