Built by United Concrete Pipe Corporation's steel division in Long Beach, she was one of twelve FS (freight supply)-series coastal freighters built for the US Army.

Commissioned on 8 August 1944 at Los Angeles, her first commanding officer was Lt. J.A. Small of the US Coast Guard. He was succeeded by Lt. Philip G. Adams, USCGR, who in turn was succeeded by Lt. E.R. Holden, USCGR, four days before she was decommissioned on 19 October 1945.

She was assigned to operate in the Southwest and Western Pacific areas.

Upon decommissioning, she was sold to unknown interests who renamed her "James M Cook", under which title she visited Onehunga in 1972.

As far as I'm aware, after exhaustive searching of the internet, the above is the only known photo of this ship, about which there are very few details available other than those mentioned above.
